Tobias Round is the owner of The Round Company Limited where he manages elite artists and acts as a theatrical producer with over 30 years of international commercial and not-for- profit experience. His diverse résumé in the entertainment industry has been shaped through his key involvement in some of London’s outstanding theatrical productions. His experience includes a succession of innovative and critically acclaimed shows, crossing straight theatre, musicals, and dance. He served on the Board of Wayne McGregor’s Random Dance as well as Stage One, which was established by the Society of London Theatre to support emerging producers, where he also served as a mentor for its candidates.

As an artists’ manager, Tobias represents elite directors, choreographers, and designers, establishing these artists’ careers through long-terms strategic management and development of networks across the not-for-profit and commercial sectors. Clients include- Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, Cathy Marston, Helen Pickett, Lotte Wakeham, Dickson Mbi, Karen Bruce, and Jean Marc Puissant. In this role, Tobias also negotiates and originates major international co-productions for his artists and producers.

For over two decades a string of West End successes have added to his credits. These include the transfer of Hampstead Theatre’s sold-out production of Di and Viv and Rose to the Vaudeville, The Royal Opera House’s The Wind in the Willows at the Duchess (where it won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment, then again at the Vaudeville (the first ever commercial transfer from the ROH to the West End), What You Will with Roger Rees at the Apollo, Death and the Maiden at the Comedy with Thandiwe Newton, Trevor Nunn directed Sebastian Faulkes’s Birdsong at the Comedy, The Little Dog Laughed with Tamsin Greig, Rupert Friend and Gemma Arterton at the Garrick, Three Days of Rain at the Apollo with James McAvoy and Nigel Harman, the Donmar’s transfer of Piaf to the Vaudeville, Year of the Rat at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Swimming with Sharks with Christian Slater and Matt Smith at the Vaudeville and Hound of the Baskervilles at the Duchess. A recent hit, with packed houses and 5-star reviews, was a 9-month run at the Dominion of An American in Paris where Tobias co-produced the production and managed Christopher Wheeldon.

During his time as the Donmar Warehouse’s General Manager, his production versatility and fluency were polished as he supported the artistic vision and eclectic programming of Michael Grandage. Tobias had a leadership role in the production of over 20 plays and musicals including West End transfers such as Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly with Ewan McGregor, Frost/Nixon, Grand Hotel, John Mortimer’s Voyage Round My Father, Peter Oswald’s version of Schiller’s Mary Stuart, and Patrick Marber’s After Miss Julie. While at the Donmar, Tobias established its National Touring programme, was the Director of the Donmar’s US Friends charity and its commercial trading subsidiary (Donmar in The West End Limited), and spearheaded the Donmar’s capital development scheme to acquire its home theatre and office / rehearsal space.

Tobias came into the industry through Columbia Artists’ Management and IMG in New York, Paris and London, with a remit for classical music, attractions and international touring. Once based in the UK full-time, he became the Executive Producer for Mathew Bourne’s ground-breaking and internationally acclaimed dance company, Adventures in Motion Pictures where he managed licensing for Swan Lake and was responsible for The Car Man at the Old Vic, and its US tour which was co-produced by the CTG in Los Angeles and performed at the Ahmanson.


Most recently, Tobias was the General Manager for Dominic Dromgoole’s Classic Spring Theatre Company, this ambitious, year-long season of Oscar Wilde revivals at The Vaudeville presented all four of Oscar Wilde’s plays, as well as staged a version of The Selfish Giant, Simon Callow performed De Profundis, and presented a captivating lecture by Stephen Fry about the life of Oscar Wilde. All four plays were broadcast in cinema relays and recorded for streaming services including NT Live and Marquee TV.


Tobias is married to Leanne Benjamin, former principal ballerina of the Royal Ballet and deputy chair of the Royal Ballet’s Board of Governors; they have a son, Thomas, who is beginning his final year of study of English Literature at UCL in London.
