Marriott joined The Royal Ballet in1998 became a soloist in 1996, a Principal Character Artist in 2002, and a choreographer in 2003. He performed for the Royal Ballet in a wide range of repertory including works by Sir Frederick Ashton, Sir Kenneth MacMillan and the Classics. Marriott left The Royal Ballet in 2019 to concentrate on his choreographic career. His works for The Royal Ballet include 7 one act ballets, his most recent The Unknown Soldier was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2019, other awards include 3 Critics Circle nominations and a Goldenmask nomination in Russia. He has choreographed 3 pieces for The Royal Ballet School, The Tsarina’s Slippers for The Royal Opera and In The Glass House for The Queen's Birthday Gala.
His other works include a pas de deux at The Royal Variety Performance 2010, Kiss and The Red Shoes for Darcey Bussell and a collaboration with Christopher Wheeldon for the extinguishing of the flame at the London 2012 Olympics. In 2020 Marriott presented Clare de Lune a solo for Mathieu Ganio at Le Palais Garnier for The Paris Opera Ballet and Germain Louvet for their 2022 tour to Los Angeles at The Hollywood Bowl. Most recently Marriott staged and made additional choreography for The New National Ballet of Japan’s new production of Giselle.
